Data privacy

As the operator of the THOMAS SABO online shop, we – THOMAS SABO GmbH & Co. KG – regard data protection as a fundamental concern and we would like to ensure that your privacy is, and remains, protected at all times when using our online shop.

GENERAL

Your personal data are only collated, processed and used by us if you issue your consent, or legislation allows us, to process and/or use your personal data. To this end, we comply with the valid legal stipulations on data protection, particularly the legal stipulations of the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz – hereinafter referred to as “BDSG”) and the German Act for Telemedia Services (Telemediengesetz – hereinafter referred to as “TMG”).

WHAT ARE PERSONAL DATA?

The German Data Protection Act describes personal data as specific information on the personal and objective circumstances of a specific or specifiable person. These particularly include data such as your name, your address, your date-of-birth/age, your gender, your telephone number and your e-mail address.

WHY DO WE COLLATE, PROCESS AND UTILISE PERSONAL DATA?

  • We collate, process and utilise personal data for processing your orders, including delivery and services associated with the order
  • We collate, process and utilise personal data for processing payments
  • We collate, process and utilise personal data for responding to your questions and queries
  • We collate, process and utilise personal data for sending out our newsletter insofar as you have given us your consent to do so

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT IN THE PROCESS?

Only information that you enter while visiting our online shop or transmit to us in any other way is collated, saved and processed. You have the option to withhold certain information – which can however mean that you will be unable to utilise some of our offerings, services and features.

CONSENT AND REVOCATION

When subscribing to the newsletter, THOMAS SABO uses – with your consent – your first name, your last name and your e-mail address for its own advertising purposes. Once you have given us your consent for using, processing and transmitting your personal data for the purpose of sending the newsletter or for other marketing purposes, you can revoke this for the future at any time without any formal procedure or notice. Furthermore, you can – insofar as we use your personal data within the legally-permissible context for postal marketing measures – object to the utilisation of this data. In both cases, simply send us an informal message by post to the following address:

DO WE PASS PERSONAL DATA ON TO THIRD PARTIES?

For optimum processing of your order, it may also be necessary to transmit your personal data to third parties, for example to our logistics partners so that these can process your order/orders for dispatch.

Furthermore, we transmit your personal data to a financial information service agency/collection agency – Intrum Justitia GmbH – for the purpose of checking your credit history and identity, credit checking and for collection of outstanding debts. This is designed to avoid difficulties regarding payments and prevent any resulting financial damages.

The dispatch of the newsletter is carried out by emarsys eMarketing Systems AG, a service provider commissioned by us.

We guarantee that we will otherwise not forward your personal data to third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so or you have given us your prior consent for this.

The data forwarded to third parties are utilised by these third parties exclusively for carrying out the duties or tasks allocated to them.

HOW LONG ARE THE DATA SAVED FOR?

Only for as long as they are required for the processing of our services or for the period the legal stipulations require them to be saved for.

HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR DATA?

We deploy technical and organisational measures that protect your personal data against loss, manipulation and unauthorised access by third parties. We regularly adapt our security measures to the current state of the art.

We encrypt your personal data using the SSL process (Secure Socket Layer process) for our online shop and for transmitting your personal data stored there, which includes the payment information. The SSL process is currently the most common and most secure Internet data transmission process.

UTILISATION OF FACEBOOK SOCIAL PLUGINS

Our Website utilises social plugins (hereinafter referred to as “plugins”) of the www.facebook.com social network, which is operated by Facebook Inc., Menlo Park, USA (hereinafter referred to as “Facebook”). The plugins are indicated with a Facebook logo or with the addition of “Facebook social plugin”. An overview of the Facebook plugins and their appearances can be found here: developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/

If you access a page on our Website that includes such a plugin, your browser creates a direct link to the Facebook servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly to your browser by Facebook and integrated into the Website by this.

As a result of the integration of the plugins, Facebook receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding page of our Website, even if you do not have a Facebook account or are not logged onto Facebook. This information, including your IP address, is directly transmitted to a Facebook server in the USA and saved.

If you are logged onto Facebook, Facebook can attribute the visit to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins – for instance, by activating the “Like” button or leaving a comment – the corresponding information is transmitted directly to Facebook by your browser and saved there. The information will also be published on Facebook.

The purpose and scope of the data collection and further processing and utilisation of the data by Facebook and your associated rights and setting options for protecting your privacy can be found in the privacy policies of Facebook.

If you do not want Facebook to attribute your personal data collected via our Website to your Facebook account, you must log off from Facebook prior to visiting our Website.

If you do not want Facebook to set cookies when loading our Website cookies and collect data on you using these cookies, you can select the “Block third-party cookies” function in your browser settings. Then, the browser will not send cookies with embedded contents from other providers to the server. With this setting, however, the ‘Like’ button will no longer work, as may other site-wide functions.
